Obituary of Currie King

Currie McDonald "Mac" King, Jr., age 83, of 706 Shamrock Road, Asheboro died Friday, November 16, 2007 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.

Mr. King was born March 31, 1924 in Mt. Olive, NC the son of Currie McDonald King, Sr. and Snoda Brower King.

Mr. King was an Army Veteran of World War II, he served on the Asheboro City Council for twelve years, was a retired volunteer fireman for the Asheboro Fire Department, and retired from Randolph Electric Membership Corporation as Assistant Manager after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Asheboro Lions Club and a member of Central United Methodist Church where he was also a member of the Bob Lloyd's Sunday School Class. He was predeceased by a grandson, Braxton Currie King in October, 2006.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Jane Blalock King, two sons and their wives: Donald Blalock King and Brenda C. King of Oxford, NC, and Mike King, Sr. and Lisa B. King of Asheboro, NC, granddaughter, Tabatha King of Kernersville, NC; grandsons, J. R. King of Youngsville, NC; Michael King, Jr., Taylor King and Preston King all of Asheboro, NC; great granddaughter, Jamie Coley of Wilmington, NC, one sister: Dianne Godwin of Chapel Hill, NC and one brother: John Reid King of Goldsboro, NC.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Dr. Mark J. Key, and Rev. Barry J. Queen officiating.

Entombment with military honors by the Randolph Honor Guard will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
