Albert Jackson Freeman McGrady, age 78, of Asheboro passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 2, 2009 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church, 3335 Wesleyan Rd., Randleman with Rev. Aaron Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. McGrady was a native of Columbia, SC, served in the Naval Reserves, and was also a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict as a Medic. He was an active member of Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church. He was formerly employed with Acme-McCrary and Thomasville Furniture, and was retired from B&H Panel. Albert was a loyal husband, a devoted father and grandfather and a friend to all he came into contact with. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lee Bates McGrady of the home; daughter, Audrey McGrady of New City, NY; son, Glenn McGrady of Asheboro, NC; granddaughters, Keysha Nicole McGrady of New City, NY and Emma Chloe McGrady of Asheboro, NC; extended family, Ann Limongello of New City, NY, Joyce Allred of Asheboro, NC, Tina Heaton of Asheboro, NC; brothers, Otis Freeman of Columbia, SC, Laverne Freeman of Columbia, SC, Jerome "Bo" Miller of Columbia, SC, Rufus Miller of Columbia, SC, Bob Miller of Kane, PA, Cecil Miller of Vanango, PA; sisters, Judy Riley of Columbia, SC, Janie Miles of Columbia, SC, Cathy Gardner of Columbia, SC, Dolly Strickland of Columbia, SC, Elsie Key of Wrightsville, NC, Elise Lake of Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
