Frances Rae Thomas Hill, age 84, of 940 Parkview Street, Asheboro died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.A native of Chatham County, Mrs. Hill worked with her late husband, Dr. James P. Hill Sr. in his Optometry practice as an optometric assistant for forty years. During this time she also worked for five years with First National Bank. She later volunteered in her son's law practice for eleven years, then for three years as a receptionist in the Randolph County Day Reporting Center. Currently she was volunteering with the Randolph County Clerk's Office as a telephone operator.A faithful member of her church, First United Methodist, she had served on the Church Council, Council on Ministries, as a Lay Delegate to the Annual Conference, on the Lay Leadership Committee, the Staff Parish Relations Committee, and the Finance Committee. She was a member of the Loyamm Sunday School Class. She is survived by one son: Jimmy Hill and his wife Pam of Asheboro, NC, a granddaughter, Allie Hill of Asheboro, NC, one brother: Harlan M. Thomas of Granite Falls, NC, and 9 nephews and 8 nieces.The family will receive friends Monday, February 23, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 3:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Michael Holder and Dr. J. C. Grose Jr. officiating.
