Nancy McNeely Barham

Nancy McNeely Barham, age 91, formerly of Mountain Rd., Asheboro died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge in Colfax. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro with Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro. Mrs. Barham was born in Atlanta Georgia, reared in Mooresville, was a graduate of Salem College with a Bachelor's Degree in music and taught music in the Winston-Salem schools. She married Dr. Francis Barham in 1941 and they moved to Asheboro in 1945. She was a member and ordained Elder and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church and was the Children's Choir director for many years. Nancy loved playing the organ and piano at her church, at Dogwood Acres Presbyterian Church and until very recently at River Landing. She was a member of the Randolph Book Club and a past member of the Sorosis Book Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Francis Barham, son, Dr. Frank Barham, brother, Jim McNeely and daughter-in-law, Jan Barham. Nancys life was devoted to her family, church and community. She is survived by her sons, Bob Barham and his wife Gwen of Asheboro, NC; Mac Barham and his wife Gail of Raleigh, NC; John Barham of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Betty Carter and her husband David of Asheboro, NC; daughter-in-law, Sharon Barham of Charlotte, NC; sister, Whitey Fewell of Charlottesville, VA; sister-in-law, Doris McNeely of Greensboro, NC; granddaughters, Susan Barham of Durham, NC, Joli Barham of Charlotte, NC, Meg Barham of Raleigh, NC, and Mackie Barham of Oxford, MS; grandsons, Mac Barham, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and David Carter of Asheboro, NC The family will receive friends Friday, February 15, 2008 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in the church parlor.
