Richard H. Hughes, age 83, of 2220 Hopewell St., Asheboro died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at his home. Mr. Hughes was born May 3, 1924 the son of Johnny and Julie Mae Robbins Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a native of Randolph County and retired from Burlington Industries in Central Falls after more than 45 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Poole Hughes. He is survived by his daughter and her fianc, Janice Robbins and Eddie Latham, of Asheboro; sons and daughters-in-laws, Tony and Glenda Hughes of Staley and Johnny and Jeannette Hughes of Asheboro; son, Ron Robbins of the home; grandchildren: Annette Carter and her husband, Jimmy, of Asheboro, Jerry Dean and wife, Phyliss Hughes, of Sophia, Richard Hughes of Asheboro, Theresa Barnes and husband, Terry, of Asheboro, Tony Hughes and wife, Jenny, of Asheboro, eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin Hughes of Ramseur; extended family, Stan, Phyllis and Kelly Lewis and Tim, Debbie and Taylor Peele and brother-in-law, Tommy Poole. The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave. in Asheboro, from 12:30-1:30 PM Tuesday, November 6, 2007 and other times at his home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Randolph Memorial Park with Rev. Don Sheffield officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
