Obituary of Wade Lyman Poe
Wade Lyman Poe, age 83, of 422 Pine Lake Dr., Siler City died Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro. Mr. Poe was born July 19, 1924, in Chatham County, the son of the late Lyman and Gladys (Covert) Poe and was retired from Chatham Foods. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a former deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was preceeded in death by his loving wife, Allene Beal Poe, son, Dane Poe, and brothers, Jimmy and R.T. Poe. He was a loving, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He coached American Legion baseball for many years. His many outdoor interests included golfing, fishing, and a special love of gardening. He is survived by his daughter and son in Law: Julie and Johnny Dinkins of Greensboro, NC; son and his wife: David and Patricia Poe of Siler City, NC; granddaughter, Melissa Poe of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter and her husband, Meredith and Scott Williams of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren: Cody and Jamie Lee Dinkins of Greensboro, NC; sister: Irene McLaurin of Pittsboro, NC The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 to 7 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park.
