Edward Lee Johnson, age 92, of 2141 Old Farmer Rd., Asheboro went to sleep in Jesus Friday, September 21, 2007 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Mr. Johnson was a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Farmer School. He worked as a civilian contractor in Wilmington, NC, building ships during World War ll and was retired co-owner of Johnson and Munn Tree Surgeons. He was an elder and a member of Asheboro Seventh Day Adventist Church. For many years, Mr. Johnson was an active member of the Randolph-Asheboro YMCA and was avid gardner, flea marketeer and baseball fan. Mr. Johnsons greatest hope was taken from the following verses of the Bible: For the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. I Thessolonians 16-18. He is survived by his two sons and their spouses: Danny & Lynn Johnson of Kernersville, NC and Keith and Faye Johnson of Asheboro; 2 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; Brother: Vernon Johnson of New Hope, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 - 8 PM. The funeral will be Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Randolph- Asheboro YMCA, P.O. Box 1152, Asheboro, NC 27204.
