Fred Lewis Small, age 85, of 9306 Hwy. 220 Business North, Randleman died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at his home. Mr. Small was born December 17, 1921 in Randleman the son of Marvin and Claudia Frazier Small. Mr. Small was a native of Randolph County and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the European Theater during World War II for twenty two months. A lifelong farmer, Mr. Small had also worked as a plumber, carpenter and truck driver. He was a member of the Level Cross United Methodist Church. Fred had a special love for his family, for fishing, restoring tractors and for the family dogs over the years. In addition to Freds parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ollie Fruitt and Ruth O'Brien. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy Dot Hinshaw Small, daughter and son-in-law: Carol and Gerald Coble of Asheboro; sister: Millie Cooper of Randleman; brothers and sisters-in-law Clyde and Betty Small and Gene and Bera Small both of Randleman; grandchildren: Amy LaLonde and husband Jake of Oxford, Jeffery Coble of Raleigh, Lisa Fowler and husband Matt of Lexington: great grandsons: Tanner LaLonde and Cody Fowler. The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street in Randleman Monday, August 27, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and other times at the home. The funeral will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 3:00 pm at Level Cross United Methodist Church, 10142 U.S. Hwy. 220 Bus. N., Randleman with Rev. Jeffrey H. Sypole and Chaplin Jeff Martin officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Memorials may be made to Level Cross United Methodist Church, 10142 U.S. Hwy. 220 Bus. N., Randleman, NC 27317. OR Randolph Hospital, 364 White Oak St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
