James B. "Jim" King, Jr., Asheboro passed away October 31, 2021 at Woodland Hill Center.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Why Not Memorial Cemetery, Fork Creek Mill Road, Seagrove, NC with Dr. Mark Key officiating.

Jim was born December 25, 1936, the son of James Brown King and Virginia McCallum King in Asheboro, NC.  He was graduated with honors from Asheboro High School in 1955, and then in 1959 was graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  He continued his education with post-graduate studies in business at the University of Tennessee and Oberlin College.

Jim's financial services career spanned some fifty plus years.

Jim was active and involved in all aspects of his life-church, community and business.  He was a member of Central United Methodist.

He was a past President of the Asheboro Rotary Club.

He maintained a keen interest in local and area history, nature and wildlife.

He participated in the Why Not Memorial Association and the Norfolk and Southern Railroad Historical Society.

He was extremely well respected in the Savings and Loan Industry.  After graduating from the NC Savings and Loan Officer's Leadership Program at Appalachian State University, he became a marketing instructor for the Savings and Loan Academy.

He is survived by his brother Tommy King and his wife Cecilia of Seagrove, his sister Marian Player and her husband Steve of Raleigh, his sister Beth Kesler of Sophia, four nephews and a grand nephew.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brother-in-law Daniel Kesler and a nephew Derek Kesler.

Jim requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Norfolk Southern Railroad Historical Society, 2222 W. Club Dr., Durham, NC  27705, Central United Methodist Church, 300 S. Main St., Asheboro, NC  27203, Lake Waccamaw Boys and Girls  Home 400 Flemington Dr., Lake Waccamaw, NC  27408, Wildlife Foundation, 2004 Hamilton Rd., Greensboro, NC  27408,  National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY  10016, or to other charities of the donor's choice.

Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the King family.
