Clay Lyon "C.L." Haney, Jr.

Clay Lyon "C.L." Haney, Jr., age 64, of Sophia passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Haney was born in Guilford County on August 15, 1957 to Clay and Hildreth Swaim Haney. Clay was employed as a truck driver for Hughes Furniture. In addition to his parents, Clay was preceded in death by his brothers, Vestal and James Stafford. Clay loved his dog Bullet and keeping tropical fish. He enjoyed watching drag racing and NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Debra Cranford Haney; son, Clay Lyon Haney III of Greensboro; and stepsons, Jacob Patrick Ware of Sophia and Daniel Edward Burress of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 1:00-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A memorial service will follow on Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Spencer Tart and Chaplain Colleen Danson officiating.
