Clarence Edward "Snook" Sword, Jr. age 77, of Randleman died Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Sword, Jr. was born June 27, 1943 the son of Clarence and Beulah Barrowman Sword.
Clarence was a native of Big Rock, VA and spent much of his life in southwestern Virginia. He served his country in the Marines and worked for more than 20 years as a coal miner. He enjoyed keeping a neat yard and vegetable garden. He was a simple man and known to most as "Snook." He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife: Vanessa McClanahan Sword, daughter: Jamie (Danny) Vest of Hampton, TN, son: Jeffrey Sword of Bluff City, TN daughter: Julie McPherson of Johnson City, TN, daughter: Amber (Kyle) Keen of Trinity, NC, daughter: Brandy (Wayne) Winchester of Elizabethtown, TN and daughter: Chastity Wiseman of Randleman, NC, 8 grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren; sister: Lois (Harold) Ball of Dayton, OH, sister: Helen Sword of Abingdon, VA and special friends: Danny Grizzle of Haysi, VA and Glenn Maness of Randleman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The Graveside Service, with military honors by the Randolph Honor Guard, will be Wednesday at Noon at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
