Chester Richard Boyd Jr., age 88, of Asheboro, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Boyd was born July 28, 1932 the son of Chester Richard and Rachael Bailey Boyd, Sr.. Chet was a graduate of N.C. State and proudly supported the Wolfpack. He was a member at First United Methodist Church and worked as an engineer for Black and Decker and General Electric. After he retired, he continued his love of woodworking at the family business of Boyd's Antiques in Raleigh where he made reproductions and repaired antique furniture. Chet served in the United States Army. He loved going to the beach, fishing, woodworking, growing tomatoes, and was an avid reader. Most of all, Chet enjoyed teaching his great grandchildren how to fish and catch crabs.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan Johnson Boyd; daughter, Cynthia Boyd (David) Sizemore of Goose Creek, SC; son, Chester Richard (Vickie) Boyd III of Greensboro; grandchildren, Kelly Anne (Dan) Barkhimer of Goose Creek, SC, Ashley Elizabeth Sizemore of Goose Creek, SC; great grandchildren, Sydney Anne Brasby, Cooper Boyd Barkhimer, Cole Preston Barkhimer all of Goose Creek, SC.
Chet will Lie in Repose on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
