Frances Josephine Wilson McPherson, age 88, of Asheboro passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at her home.
Mrs. McPherson was born July 9, 1931, the daughter of Charlie Dude Wilson and Iona Mozelle Brown Wilson.
Mrs. McPherson was a native of Chatham County, an active member of Bailey’s Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Auditorium Sunday School Class. She was formerly employed with Acme McCrary Hosiery for over 29 years and Asheboro High School as a custodian for over 11 years. Josephine loved spending time with her family and with her special friends. Josephine loved spending winter months with her son, Philip and his family in Rockport, Texas especially during Christmas time. She loved Gospel music and was so proud of both her son’s musical abilities. Josephine especially enjoyed listening to her son Steve playing his guitar and singing with the Pioneer’s where Steve has been a long-time member. Also, her son Philip playing the drums and singing with the Sure Shot Group and his touring with numerous musical artists for over 23 years.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husbands: Ernest Leon McPherson and Lewis Loflin; siblings: Mary, Maxine, Jewell, Johnny, Thomas, Leroy, Pete and Burnice.
She is survived by her son: Steve Allen McPherson of Asheboro, NC; son: Philip Dale McPherson and his wife, Donita McPherson of Rockport, TX; six grandchildren: Angie, Renee, Michael, Matthew, Ean and Nathan; ten great grandchildren: Natalie, Kaiden, Hannah, Trey, Josie, Sam, Logan, Luke, Madison and Lacie; one great-great grandchild: Brantley; three sisters: Ila Hunt of Asheboro, Lorine Holt of Franklinville and Barbara Pierce of Asheboro. She is also survived by stepchildren by Lewis Loflin and their families.
Mrs. McPherson body will lie-in-state from Monday, April 27, 2020 from noon - 5:00 pm and Tuesday, April 28, 2020 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family will have a private family service with Pastor Jonathan Shook officiating.
