Peggy Varner Allmon, age 79, of Asheboro left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
Mrs. Allmon was born in Randolph County on June 29, 1940 to Howard and Mary Sykes Varner. She was retired from Elastic Therapy. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brothers, William H. "Bill" Varner and Hal Varner, sister, Diane Anderson, and granddaughter, Heather Ledwell. Peggy was strong-willed lady and a loving and caring wife and mother. She enjoyed working in her flowers, doing crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Allmon; children, Loretta East (Gerald) of Sophia, Jimmy Allman (Beverly) of Asheboro, David Allmon (Teresa) of Asheboro, Lisa Jones (Jerry) of Vanceboro, Carolyn White (Junior) of Asheboro, and Amanda Marie Allmon of Asheboro; 12 grandchildren, Kevin Satterfield, Jason Allman (Nathalie), Justin Allman (Julie), Tabbatha Welch, Barbara Adams (Matt), Nina Albright (Mark), Deanna Rightmyer (Steven), Erica Allmon, Matthew Cagle, Breanna Ledwell, Lucas Truskowski, and Emma Allmon; 22 great grandchildren;1 great great grandchild; sisters, Helen Luck of Asheboro, Betty Allmon (Billy) of Asheboro, and Margaret Clark of Asheboro; and brothers, Bobby Varner of Asheboro and Richard Varner (Kathy) of Level Cross.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 10:00-11:15 am at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 11:30 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Faircloth officiating. Burial will be held in Randolph Memorial Park.
