Oscar Talmadge “Tam” Flowers, Jr., age 76, of Asheboro went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Mr. Flowers was born December 11, 1943 in Wilson, NC and was raised in Sims, NC.
Tam was employed with Truman/Arnold Company out of Dallas, TX where he served as Director of Safety, Security and Ground Support. Tam also worked as Chief of Onboard Services at Amtrak. He was a member of Brower’s Wesleyan Church and Gideons International. Tam was a very humble and caring man who treated everyone the same. Tam was preceded in death by his father, Oscar T. Flowers, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lillian Jones Flowers; children, Rebecca Flowers of San Diego, CA, Kenneth Flowers and wife Jamie of Durham, Sarah Flowers of Watertown, NY; bonus children, Andy Sykes and wife Jamie of Gastonia, Jennifer Sykes of Albemarle, Daniel Sykes and wife Julie of Mt. Pleasant, Noah Gilliam and wife Stephanie of Austin, TX; mother, Margaret Thomas Flowers of Raleigh; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild on the way; sister, Susan O’Connor and husband George of Raleigh; brother, Gary Flowers and wife Cecilia of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Brower's Wesleyan Church, 1734 Mack Rd., Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bryant Madren officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro.
