John Leslie Routh, age 87, of Denton died Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Hospice Of Davidson County, Lexington. Mr. Routh was born December 21, 1932 the son of Paul and Lillian Routh. John was a native of Randolph County and a veteran of the US Army where he served as a MP in Germany. John was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He was employed with Centel Telephone in Asheboro and Alltel Telephone in Matthews. Alltel's name was later changed to Windstream Telephone where John worked until he retired. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to Mount Vista saff and Dr. Baker and to Hospice of Davidson for their gentle and loving care for John and his family. He is survived by his wife: Jone Elizabeth Bradley Routh; daughters: Gretchen Crouse (Craig), Beverly Spencer (Wayne); sons: Wendell Routh (Dawn) and Mark Dellinger; 7 grandchildren; brothers: Ralph Routh.(JoAnn) and Sam Routh (Charlotte); God daughter, Pam Floyd. The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2020 from 10:00 – 10:30 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3650 Bethany Church Road, Franklinville, NC. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 am with Rev. Jeremiah Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 3650 Bethany Church Road, Franklinville, NC 27248 or to Hospice of Davidson, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
