Walter Louis Jones, Jr., age 76, of Asheboro died Monday, February 17, 2020.
Mr. Jones was born February 22, 1943 in Durham to Walter L. and Anne C. Jones.
Mr. Jones received his Bachelor's Degree from ECU and his Masters in Fine Art from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. He was a renowned artist with a passion for nature (Hyper-Realism of W. Louis Jones). He was a member of the National Society of Painters and listed in Who's Who of American Artist. Mr. Jones was a University Professor of Fine Arts, as well as a mentor and close friend to many. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his nephew, Robbie Jones.
He is survived by his sister, Lillian Jones Flowers and her husband Oscar Flowers of Asheboro; brothers, George Robert Jones and wife Ann of Lynchburg, VA, Stephen Paul Jones and wife Pamela of Apollo Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Andy Sykes, Jennifer Sykes, Daniel Sykes, Noah Gilliam, Sarah Jones, John Jones, Mark Jones and Jennifer Jones.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Brower's Wesleyan Church, 1734 Mack Rd., Asheboro. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bryant Madren officiating.
