Joann Corder Kennedy

Joann Corder Kennedy, age 72, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Joann was born August 7, 1947 in Randolph County to the late Manual Corder and Gladys Stutts Corder. Joann graduated from Seagrove High School in 1965 and was a proud, dedicated employee of Ramtex, formerly Burlington Industries, until she retired in the early 2000's. Joann was a member of New Center Christian Church and attended Pine Grove Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, singing, and dancing. Joann was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be sorely missed. May her legacy be the gift of the memories she has left behind with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her husband, George Kennedy, Jr., brother, James Corder, sister-in-law, Grace Corder, brother-in-law, Johnny Myrick, and stepdaughter, Patricia Jordan. She is survived by her daughters, Georgia Luck of Asheboro and Donna Bartrug (Barry) of Seagrove; son, Mickey Kennedy (fiancée Tan Butcher) of Seagrove; grandchildren, Ashley Floyd (Jason), Tahia Kennedy, Austin Burroughs, Kurstin Burroughs, Mackenzie Luck, Mandy King, Misty King, and Tommy Jordan; great grandchild, Paisley Burroughs; brothers, Carlene Corder of Asheboro, Bobby Corder of Thomasville, and Dennis Corder (Susan) of Seagrove; and sister, Clarice Corder Myrick of Seagrove. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro and other times at the home of Donna and Barry Bartrug. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 2459 Pine Grove Church Road in Eagle Springs with Pastor Nathaniel "Bill" Reynolds officiating.
