Walter Harrison Gray, Jr., age 79, of Randleman died peacefully and surrounded by family, January 10, 2020 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Gray was born October 5, 1940, the son of Walter and Hazel Gray.
Harrison was a native of Archdale, NC and graduated from Randleman High School, Class of 1958. He spent many years as an upholsterer, retiring from Baker Furniture in High Point, NC.
Harrison was a true outdoorsman, spending many hours hunting and gardening. The bounty he produced from these activities was shared with many. Harrison was always willing to share his knowledge of the outdoors with others. He was known for his apple cider that he made each Fall for church and family. Harrison enjoyed time spent with family and he will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Carol Gray of Randleman, NC; son and his wife: David (Amy) Gray of Lompac, CA; daughter and her husband: Tonya (Brian) Hayes of Randleman, NC; son: Leonard Gray of Wilmington, NC; daughter and her husband: Serina (Johnny) Hussey of Randleman, NC; grandchildren: Chris Gray, Jennifer Velasquez, Justin Gray, Haley Mullins, Hunter Goins, Thomas and Spencer Hayes; seven great grandchildren; brother and his wife: Wayne (Muriel) Gray of Trinity, NC; brother and his wife: Phillip (Janie) Gray of Randleman, NC; and brother and his wife: Michael (Barbara) Gray of Wylie, TX; and loyal canine companions: Ebuzz and Anna.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Square Friends Meeting, 7546 Harlow Rd., Archdale with Rev. Michael Fulp and Rev. Ben Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the Meeting Cemetery.
