Jimmie Darrell Cox, age 71, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Cox was born in Asheboro on March 1, 1948 to William Russell and Mavine Matthews Cox, who preceded him in death. Jimmie served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Black & Decker for 26 years and retired from Wellmark. Jimmie attended Sunset Avenue Church of God. Jimmie always took care of his family and loved unconditionally. He was an unselfish, compassionate and loyal man with a heart of gold. Jimmie loved to create, build, play golf and spend time with those he loved most.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cynthia Jones Cox; one daughter; Kimberly Cox Farmer (Jeff Brigman) of Asheboro; sons, David Cox of Greensboro and Eric Cox of Asheboro; grandchildren, Josh Hagan (Jennifer), Julia Lyons (Michael), Lindsey Farmer; Torin Brigman, and Savannah Underwood; and brother, Russell Cox (Delores) of Greensboro.
A memorial service will be Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Avenue Church of God, 900 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro with Pastor Boyd Byerly officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prayer Pony Foundation, 1629 Browers Chapel Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205 or the charity of the donor's choice.
