Howard Clifton Swink, age 92, of Asheboro passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM prior to the memorial service at 11:00 AM, in the Randolph Memorial Park Mausoleum, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. Gary Mason officiating and honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Swink was born January 13, 1927 in Richmond County, NC the son Jesse Franklin and Bessie Robbins Swink. An Army veteran of WWII, serving in Europe, he settled in Asheboro after the war. There he met his future wife, Marilyn Burns to whom he was married for 67 years. Howard retired from Union Carbide after 40 years of service. He was a long-time member of Calvary United Methodist Church and a member of the Balfour Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years. He had many interests including farming, raising cattle, oil and watercolor painting and photography. He was an avid reader and kept up with current events. Howard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
He is survived by one daughter: Susan S. (Alvy) Tucker of Asheboro, NC, son: Philip E. (Maureen) Swink of Gloucester, MA, four grandchildren: Garrett Swink, Tabitha (Brad) Tatham, Peter Swink and Alison Swink, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
