Obituary of William Edward Brown
William Edward "Eddie" Brown, age 72, of Randleman died Monday, October 21, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
Eddie was a native of Randolph County and was raised by T. F. and Katherine Robbins, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Asheboro High School and served as Captain in the US Army during Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart. After Vietnam, Eddie completed college at University of California, Santa Barbara earning a degree in auto performance engineering. He worked for Petty Enterprises, Tex Powell, Terry Labonte and Richard Childress Racing teams. "Fast Eddie" could make anything and loved all things to be bigger and faster.
Eddie was a member of Midway Wesleyan Church and loved deep sea fishing. He was a loving, and devoted husband and father, he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Hill Brown; daughter: Brooke Carrick and husband Keegan of Golden, CO; son, Brenten Brown of Randleman; sisters, Nada Jade Hill and husband Oscar of Asheboro, Xantippie Cheek and husband Branson of Franklinville, Shelia Scott and husband Rick of Randleman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 24th at 11:00 am at Midway Wesleyan Church, 331 Worthville Rd., Randleman with Rev. J. Arnold Luther officiating. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Charlie Flowers, Mitchell Thompson, the late David Pendry, J. R. Rayle and Richard Williams for being a friend and chauffer for Eddie, transporting him to numerous doctor and VA hospital visits. Your kindness is deeply appreciated.
