Obituary of Sue Ann Clay

Sue Ann Kearns Clay, age 70, of Mt. Gilead died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis.

Mrs. Clay was born May 27, 1948 at Troy, NC the daughter of the late Fred Kearns and the late Ann Harrison Kearns. Sue was a retired LPN, having served in the Medical field for over 40 years. She spent 30 years of that time at Bethany Woods Nursing Facility in Albemarle, NC. She was a strong Christian woman, strong in her faith in God and was quite the prayer warrior. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. She loved to design cards for special occasions. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her grandsons whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her husband: Charles Clay; one son: Christopher Michael Clay of Laurinburg, NC; one daughter: Anissa Gillis and husband David of Mt. Gilead, NC; grandsons: Clay Gillis, Noah Gillis, and Kaleb Clay; three sisters: Darlene Blake and husband Gary of Wadeville, NC, Teresa Morton and husband Herman of Troy, NC and Cynthia Huneycutt and husband Jim of Albemarle, NC; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Larry James Kearns.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at South Albemarle Baptist Church, 1005 South 2nd St., Albemarle, NC with Rev. Danny Laws and Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, 398 Zion Church Rd., Mt. Gilead.
