Cleo Loflin Munn

d. October 16, 2018

On Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, Cleo Loflin Munn of Asheboro passed away at the young age of 92. She was the "comeback kid", always surprising the doctors and nurses with her ability to prove them wrong after a fall this past February. Cleo was born on Jan. 7, 1926, in Farmer. She worked at Acme McCrary for 7 years and retired from GE with 32 years of service. On March 27, 1954, Cleo married Raymond Munn. He was her perfect helpmate and she loved him in life and in the years following his passing. Raymond and Cleo had one daughter, Judi, who was the apple of their eye. All they ever wished was for her to live a happy life in which she found with her husband Charles O'Roark. Cleo looked forward to her "programs" and was an avid watcher of Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor, flower shows on PBS, and the daily news and weather report. She enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers and could make anything grow. The highlight of Cleo's day was her phone calls and visits from friends and family and she always kept up with the goings on around town. Her best friend in the world was Marilyn Foster and while the years, and sometimes the miles, were many between them, their bond was remarkable and unbreakable. But Cleo's proudest role was being a grandmother to her grandson, Jamie Elliott and later his wife, Chastity, and to her great grandchildren Kaley and Taylor - all of which could do no wrong in her eyes. Kaley gave her the name Nana and Cleo wore it proudly. Many have gone on before Cleo, her husband Raymond, her brothers Henry Loflin, Leonard Loflin, Clifford Loflin and a great granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Elliott, that we have no doubt was scooped into Cleo's arms upon entering the gates of heaven. Among those left to miss her are her daughter Judi O'Roark and husband Charles. Grandson Jamie Elliott and his wife Chastity, two great-granddaughters Kaley and Taylor Elliott, and sister Allene McDowell. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. It's hard to imagine a world with Cleo gone, and while she may no longer be a phone call away, we will carry her memory in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2pm at West Bend United Methodist Church with interment in Randolph Memorial Park immediately following. Visitation will begin at 1pm at the church. Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of The Sticht Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home for the excellent care she received. Cleo was a 60 plus year member of West Bend United Methodist Church and remained an active contributor even in later years when she was unable to attend regularly. In the last few months that she spent in the hospital and nursing home, she was comforted by visits from pastor Kari Howard. Contributions to the church in Cleo's honor would be welcome. You are loved, Nana Cleo, and you will be missed terribly. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Munn family.
