Obituary of Marion Fox

Lydia Marion Matthews Fox, age 98, of Asheboro and formerly of Randleman, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.

Mrs. Fox was born November 12, 1919 in Sanford to Walker and Matie Matthews. She was retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Randleman for 50 years where she was active with the Women's Fellowship and was a nursery attendant.  After moving to Asheboro she became a member of Union Grove Christian Church.  Mrs. Fox was very involved with activities while her daughters were growing up including scouts and being a grade mother.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James R. Fox, sister, Betty Buchaan and brothers, Monroe and J. D. Matthews.

She is survived by daughters, Bobbie Kerns and husband Gene of Asheboro, Sandra Cagle and husband J. W. of Asheboro; grandchildren, Craig Kerns, Quin Kerns, Cary Kerns and wife Brandi, Crista McGee and husband Archie, Alisa Lee and husband Danny; great grandchildren, James Kerns, Isabella Kerns, Bryson Lee, Salem Lee, Mattie McGee; sister, Mildred Smith of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at her home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at Union Grove Christian Church, 3985 Old NC Hwy 13, Asheboro with Pastor Scott Kidd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Clapps Nursing Home for their loving care given to Marion and her family.
