Obituary of Yung Chi
Yung Thi Chi, 52, of Sophia, NC passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 during her brief stay at Randolph Hospice House surrounded by her family, friends, and loved ones after a long battle with cancer.
Yung was born July 12, 1965, in Saigon, Vietnam from which her family bravely escaped in 1975 during the war. Along with both parents, she was one of nine children who left their home country in hopes of providing a better future for their family.
After graduating from Asheboro High School, she attended Asheboro Beauty School where she earned her cosmetology license. Yung then dedicated her life to raising her children. She worked at Bamboo Garden as a teenager until 2013. Later in her life she turned her passion for running and fitness into a career, working at several local gyms and leading fitness classes, where her students lovingly gave her the nickname “The Punisher”.
She is survived by her three beautiful children Cody Ferree Allmon, Kady Jade Allmon, and Sarah Kae Allmon and her fiancé Jonathan Amador Acosta, grandson Phillip Jonathan Acosta, and her loving and devoted husband Michael Alan Meier. As well as siblings: Hao Van Chi and wife Becky Chi, Sanh Nam Chi and wife Gam An Chi, Nammy Chi Truong and husband Tam Truong, Kiet Chi and wife Anh Lam Chi, Catrina Chi Haithcox and husband Daniel Haithcox, Kim Chi Nguyen and husband Duoc Nguyen, Vy Van Chi, and Loan Kim Chi and husband David Alan Maloney. Her nieces and nephews: Kim Lee Chi, Sonya Chi Burkholder, Tammy Chau Truong, Thomas Chi-Toan Truong, Stephanie Anh Chi, Kristina Lin Voong, David Hoan Nguyen, Raymond Vinh Chi, Kelly Aithu Chi, Peter Tuan Nguyen, and Lauren MacKenzie Chi.
She is preceded in death by parents Hien Quoc and Anh Chau Chi.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, at First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro. Pastor Brian Gawf will officiate. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Pugh Funeral Home on Sunset Ave. in Asheboro.
