Obituary of Sara Scott

Sara Burke Scott, 83, of Effie Welch Road, Bear Creek died Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

Mrs. Scott was born in Chatham County on April 13, 1934 the daughter of Jasper and Mary Isley (Moore) Burke. Sara was a member of Tyson Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Phillippians Sunday School Class, former member of the church choir and assisted with vacation Bible school and many other church activities. Sara retired from Trion in Sanford and had also worked at Kellwood and Southern Supreme. She enjoyed coin collecting, reading, paint by numbers and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, W. F. and Calvin Burke and Charlie Bright.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years: Lester Scott; daughter: Shelia Scott Beal (Melvin) of Goldston; two sons: Michael Scott and wife, Hazellean of Bear Creek Danny Scott and wife, Vicky of Goldston; two sisters: Annie Alley of Summerfield and Hilda Ferguson of Greensboro; one brother: Joe Burke of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Jeffrey Michael Scott, Rhonda Smith, Sara Blair Auman, Stacey O'Hare, Rebecca Culberson and Sara Mae Beal; great-grandchildren, Michael, Ashley and Matthew Smith, Tyler and Amber Scott, Ben and Charlie O'Hare, Lane Culberson.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 29, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Tyson's Creek Baptist Church, 10891 Siler City-Glendon Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Scott Walker and Rev. Bob Wachs officiating.

Burial will be in the church Cemetery. Memorials may be to the Building Fund of Tysons Creek Baptist Church.
