Betty Zane Causey Lineberry passed away November 2, 2017 on "the mountain" where she was born February 28, 1931. She had been in declining health for several years and died surrounded by her family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Wade Hampton Causey and Margie Hanner Causey and an infant brother. Betty graduated from Randleman High School In 1949 and Woman's College, now known as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, in 1952. She earned a BS degree in Secretarial Administration and achieved numerous academic accomplishments including membership in the Gamma Alpha Sorority and holding offices in the Alethian Society. Betty was especially proud of being chief marshal her senior year. After working several years as a social worker for the Randolph County Department of Social Services, Betty spent many years raising her children. She began her career as a high school business teacher at Randleman High School and later retired from Trinity High School. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Randleman and served on the Randleman Library Board. Betty is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Winfield Scott Lineberry; her children Anne Scott Lineberry of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Nancy Caroline Lineberry Brown (Jeff) of Randleman NC, Winfield Scott Lineberry, Jr. (Caroline) of Stoneville NC, and Alan Causey Lineberry (Lisa) of Randleman NC; three grandchildren, Taylor Lineberry, Trent Lineberry and Kaitlyn Lineberry. In addition, she is survived by Kevin Scott Springs (Laura) of Stoneville NC who was like a son to her and by three nieces and a nephew. The family extends a very special thank you to Cone Health Family Medicine and especially Dr. Kyle Fletke, the Randleman Fire Department, Hospice of Randolph County, her loving caregiver Syble Lindsey for all of their compassion and care that allowed Betty to be able to stay at home. The family will greet friends Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 3-5 at First United Methodist Church of Randleman, 301 South Main Steet, Randleman, NC. Private family services will be held at a later time. Those wishing to remember Betty with a memorial are asked to consider a contribution to Randleman Fire Department, 105 Hillary St., Randleman NC 27317; Boys & Girls Home of North Carolina, PO Box 127 Lake Waccamaw NC 28450; or to the charity of their choice. Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman is serving the Lineberry family.
