Marilyn Burns Swink, age 89, of Asheboro died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Mrs. Swink was born January 23, 1928 in Asheboro to Emory and Mary Burns. She was a 1947 graduate of Asheboro High School and a charter member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Mrs. Swink was a homemaker and a member of the Randolph County Home Extension for 50 years. She was a wonderful cook, quilt maker and seamstress. Mrs. Swink loved the great outdoors, working in her garden and traveling. She is survived by her husband, Howard Clifton Swink; daughter, Susan Tucker and husband Alvy of Asheboro; son, Philip Swink and wife Maureen of Gloucester, MA; grandchildren, Tabitha Tatham of Asheboro, Garrett Swink of Washington, DC, Peter Swink of Bridgeport, CT, Alison Swink of Boston, MA; 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:30 am at Randolph Memorial Park with a graveside service being held at 11:00 am with Rev. Alice Day officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at the Alzheimer's Care Center @ Cross Road Retirement Center and Clapp's Nursing Home for the care given to Marilyn during her time there. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Care Center @ Cross Road Retirement, 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC 27203. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the family.
