William Roger Rice, age 70, of Asheboro died Monday, September 13, 2021 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Rice was born February 3, 1951 in Randolph County to William Frank and Leta Rice.
Mr. Rice was a 1969 graduate of Seagrove High School and served in the Army Reserves. He was a member of Flag Springs United Methodist Church and served on the Ulah Fire Department Board for 18 years. Mr. Rice was formerly employed with Century Link and was owner/operator of Universal Contract Services. He was a devoted customer of the 220 Grill Restaurant. Mr. Rice had an unconditional love for his grandchildren and enjoyed boating and fishing with them.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Ingram Rice; daughter, Angie Scott and husband Kevin of Seagrove; son, Jeff Rice and wife Chasity of Asheboro; mother, Leta Rice of Asheboro; brothers, Ronnie Rice and wife Denise of Seagrove, Franky Rice and wife Shelia of Asheboro; grandchildren, Julian Walter Scott, Liam Roger Scott, Hudson J. Rice; brother-in-law, Dennis Ingram and wife Karen of Asheboro.
Mr. Rice will lie in repose on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 pm and on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 9:00 - 1:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Jarrett officiating and Rev. Carol Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christine McCarty and staff for the wonderful care given to Mr. Rice during his illness.
