Wouda Maria Vereyken, 92, of Randleman passed away February 16, 2016 at Carillon Assisted Living.
Mrs. Vereyken was born May 26, 1923 in St. Oedenrode, Netherlands. She and Petrus Antonius Vereyken were wed on November 9, 1948 and moved to the United States shortly afterwards. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Level Cross. She went to work at Wal-Mart and spent many years helping customers choose the right fabrics and giving valuable sewing tips.
Mrs. Vereyken was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Vereyken, parents, Theodore and Hendrika Vermeltfoort, brothers, Ted Vermeltfoort, Peter Vermeltfoort and Bert Vermeltfoort, sisters, Barbara Kapteyns and Johanna Deleyer.
She is survived by 6 children, Peter Vereyken of Asheboro, Harriet Ratcliffe of Randleman, Nellie Beck of Seagrove, Dot Garner of Randleman, Marion Hemerly of Ellicott City, MD, Tony Vereyken of Randleman; brother, Arnold Vermeltfoort, sisters Liz Lucassen and Riki de Kamp all of Canada; 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Asheboro on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
The family request memorials be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 W. Wainman Ave., Asheboro, NC 27203 or to a charity of donor's choice.
