Milton Worth Thayer, age 88, of Troy died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Worth was born June 7, 1925 at Troy, NC the son of Marion and Odessa Mullinix Thayer. He owned and operated Thayer's Body Shop and Lawn Mower Repair for many years. He was the community mechanic. He was a graduate of Troy High School in 1942 and a member of Eleazer United Methodist Church.
He loved his guitars and was manager of the Secret Agents Band. He loved his dog, Misty, enjoyed gardening, riding his tractor and golf cart.
In addition to his parents, Worth is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Moore Thayer.
He is survived by two sons: Ronald Thayer and wife Sheila of Troy, Kenneth Thayer, also of Troy; two grandsons: Ron Thayer and wife Lori of Troy, Ken Thayer of Rockingham; three great-grandsons, Nathan Thayer, Grant Thayer and Mark Thayer; one great-great-granddaughter.
A memorial graveside service will be held Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 2:30 pm at Ophir United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ophir Road, Troy with Rev. Billy Chriscoe officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
