Worth Odell Shaw, age 91, formerly of Rockcliff Terrace, Asheboro died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Junior Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Shaw was a native of Randolph County and was a 1937 graduate of Asheboro High School, where he played for the Asheboro Blue Comets Football Team. Worth and his brother, Clyde were Golden Glove Boxers. He was a member of Foster Street Wesleyan Church. He was the former owner/operator of Worth Shaw's Photography Studio and was retired from Bossong Hosiery. Worth was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Marie Price Fallon and his son, Worth Odell Shaw, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Boswell Shaw; sons, Carson Shaw and his wife Elaine of Asheboro, NC, Dennis Shaw and his wife Pam of Asheboro, NC; daughter-in-law: Peggy Shaw of Gibsonville, NC; son-in-law: Walt Fallon of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Rhonda Phillips, Chrystal Coleman, Mickey Shaw, Sherry Bunting, Tracey McDowell, Elizabeth Vaught, Jill Thomas, and Katie Shaw; great grandchildren, Brittany Phillips, Stephen Boswell, Kevin Boswell, Christina Boswell, Cassidy Coleman, Peyton McDowell, Breighly Vaught, Ella Vaught, Dillon Shaw, Addie Shaw, Gavin Thomas, and Emerson Thomas; brother, Clyde Shaw of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 12:30 - 1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
