Winfred Richardson, age 91, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Randolph Health.
Mr. Richardson was born on March 5, 1928 in Asheboro, NC to Banah and Zellar Richardson. Winfred served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Union Carbide after 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, Winfred was preceded in death by his son, Randy Richardson, grandchildren, Kelly Richardson and Tim Briles, brothers, Ervin and Ottis Richardson, and half sister, Edith Maness. Winfred enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and riding bikes.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Brown Richardson; daughters, Sharon R. Walker and husband Mickey of Randleman, and Beverly R. Allman and husband Jimmy of Asheboro; son, Tony Richardson and wife Connie of Asheboro; 6 grandchildren;17 great grandchildren; sisters, Bertie Strider of Asheboro, and Yvonne Hurley and husband Darrell Beane of Asheboro; brother, Roger D. Richardson and wife Maxine of Troy; and sister-in-law, Lucille Richardson of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Center Cross Baptist Church, 1789 Center Cross Church Road in Asheboro with Rev. Grant Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
