Wilma Faye Manus Smith, age 86, of North Pointe Assisted Living, formerly of 683 Woodland Circle, Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 11:00 am at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Tim Lowry officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte at 3:00 pm. Wilma moved to Asheboro from Union County, NC in 1990. She found the people in Asheboro friendly and lovely. She joined Balfour Baptist Church and loved each member. She adopted Asheboro as her home and became involved in her church. She loved to cook and carry favorite dishes to her friends and church dinners and loved to go on trips with the senior citizens of the church. Every year for the past 31 years she looked forward to Christmas Breakfast with her girls, Jan Callaway, Joan Allred, Linda Smith and her daughter, Elaine. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Richard C. Smith, her mother, Pearl M. Hargett of Waxhaw, NC, her brother, Tommy Manus of Weddington, NC, her precious grandson, Eric Reid of Asheboro, NC and her son-in-law, Ed Reid of Asheboro, NC. She is survived by her son Douglas E. Smith and wife, Phyllis of Mt. Gilead, NC; daughter, Elaine S. Reid of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Beth Kerley and husband, Scott Kerley of China Grove, NC, Rich Reid and wife, Melissa of Asheboro, NC, Sgt. Andrew Smith who is stationed in Iraq and his wife, Jill Smith of Hawaii; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Kerley, Cameron Reid and Leah Reid. The family will receive friends Friday, March 14, 2008 from 10-11 AM at the church, other times at her daughters home, 388 Sherwood Oaks Dr., Asheboro. Memorials may be made to Eric E.
