Wilma King McKenzie, age 94, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Wilma was born in Randolph County on June 30th, 1928 to James Monroe and Bessie Hill King. She was a homemaker and was formerly employed with Bossong Hosiery Mill. Wilma was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church but was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church for years. She was a faithful member the Sara-Hope Sunday School class and Women on Missions. In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Thomas "Tommy" McKenzie, two sisters, Hazel Hinshaw and Rachel Morris, and 3 brothers, C. E. "Curly" King, James D. King, and Aaron Joe King.
She is survived by two sons, John Barry McKenzie and wife Tammie and Aaron Todd McKenzie and wife LuAnn; two sisters, Joyce King and Carrie King; brother, William L. King and wife Joyce; sister-in-law, Frances King; three grandchildren, Meredith McKenzie Dumford and husband Wes, Kathryn McKenzie Eddins and husband Seth, and Ryan Thomas McKenzie and wife Emily; one great grandchild, Tatum Dumford; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 9:45-10:45 am at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rob Roberts and Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial will be held at Randolph Memorial Park.
