Willis Maloy McBride, age 92, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. McBride was born in Sanford, NC to Raymond and Lillie Crutchfield McBride. Willis served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Willis was formerly employed with Bossong Hosiery for 32 years and drove a gas truck for Briles Oil Company. In addition to his parents, Willis was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Hughes McBride, infant son, Charles Anthony McBride, sisters, Lola Mae Grochala, Bellma Allred, Louise Poole, and Bonnie McBride, and brothers, Hamp and Leslie McBride. Willis enjoyed farming and gardening. He loved to attend estate auction sales and Legion ball games.
He is survived by his son, Hurley McBride and wife Susan of Asheboro; daughter, Sheila McCain and husband Branson of Sophia; grandchildren, Karen Hall, Kristin Venable, Amy Ferree, Kim Shankle, Greg McBride, and Jonathan McCain; and brother, Thurman McBride and wife Helena of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 12:30-1:45 pm at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Scotty Carpenter, Rev. Tommy Robertson, and Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
