Willie Wearthy Williamson, age 90, of Asheboro died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Williamson was born in Star, NC to Levi and Memory Latham Williamson. Willie served his country in the U.S. Army and is our WWII veteran that took a hit for us and all Americans for our freedom. Willie was a fixer in the textile industry for over 60 years. He was member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Williamson, sons, Mitchell and O.D. Williamson, and son-in-law, Dickie Adams. He was a great father who was very proud of his children.
He is survived by his children, Howard Williamson and wife Dona of Texas, Lynn Robbins of Rowan County, Lawrence Williamson and wife Cindy of Randleman, Ameryles Thomas and husband Kenny of Asheboro, Colleen Adams of Randleman, Bernadette Bowen of Asheboro, Phyllis Busbin of Salisbury, Gwendolyn McDowell of Franklinville, Vivian Nutter and husband Chuck of Winston-Salem, Vickie Williamson of Randleman, Richard Williamson of Archdale; 50 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 20 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at the home of his daughter, Colleen Adams in Randleman. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Byerly officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Oak Church of God Cemetery in Star.
