William John "Bill" Westfield, age 81, of 742 Lee St., Asheboro died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:30 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel Asheboro with Rev. Connie Weaver and Rev. Barry L. Queen officiating. Mr. Westfield was a native of Philadelphia, PA and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was retired from Shell Chemical and was a member of Pipefitters Union #322 of South New Jersey. He was a Mason, member of the Henry Hanks Lodge in New Jersey, a Shriner and former president of the Shrine Club and a member of the Scottish Rite. Bill was also a member of the Golden K Club of Asheboro and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro. Bill enjoyed Deep Sea Fishing and spending time and telling "stories" with his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie C. Moore Westfield; daughters, Faith Rowe and her husband Dave of Asheboro, NC; Bert Garris and her husband Tim of Asheboro, NC; son, William J. Westfield, Jr. of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Dawn McKernan, Kara McAvoy, Mark Rowe, Dale Conville, Chad Conville and Katy Garris; 8 great grandchildren; and sister, Katherine Moran of Ohio. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2008 from 10:30-11:30 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro, NC 27203 or Shriner's Children's Hospital % Oasis Temple, PO Box 560666, Charlotte, NC 28256-0666 or Hospice Of Randolph, P.O.
