William Harris Pone, Jr.

There comes a time in our life when we must answer the call of our Heavenly Father. This time came to William Harris "Pee Wee" Pone, Jr. on June 12, 2019 in Asheboro, NC.

He was born on January 1, 1965 in Whiteville, NC to Levern Green Pone and William Harris Pone, Sr. He was preceded in death by his mother(Levern), sister(Daisy) and brother(Daniel).

During his formative years, William attended St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and he was educated in Bladen County School System. William served his country in the United States Army as a 2LT and received a Honorable Discharge. William graduated from Pembroke State University with a Bachelor of Science and from Stanly Community College with a degree of Human Services Technology. He was employed at PSR Program, Aberdeen, NC as Director.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife Michelle, three sons, Lavar Pone of Raleigh, NC, Trevelle Pone of Charlotte, NC, Kendrick Hammonds of Asheboro, NC; two daughters, Robin Evans (Carlton) of Fayetteville, NC, Dorothy Lynn Hammonds of Asheboro, NC; and two grandchildren, Avani Ramos Pone and Marshawn Odell Leak; His father William H. Pone, Sr. (Betty) of Lucama, NC; three sisters, Linda Pone Braddy of Whiteville, Mary Pone of Charlotte, NC and Lurina Currie(Lee) of Clarkton, NC; two brothers, Corey Pone(Shanna) and Torey Pone of Lucama, NC. sister-in law, Vernice Autry (Kevin); three brothers-in-law; Mark Hammonds (Sonya), Travis Hammonds (Beverly), Danny Ray Hammonds of Lumberton and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 12 noon-1:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
