William "Bill" Carl Page, Jr., age 82, died peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Michael Holder officiating.
Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Asheboro. He was the owner of the P & P Chair Company, maker of the Kennedy Presidential Rocker. He was a World War II veteran, proudly serving in the United States Navy. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he was an alumni association member and enthusiastic Tar Heel Sports fan. He was also a member of the American Legion and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Asheboro. Bill was a devoted husband, and a man of integrity, with a wonderful sense of humor. As a parent, he was a role model to his children, grandchildren and many others, who were immeasurably blessed by his presence in their lives. Bill truly loved, treasured and enjoyed everyday with his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Page, Sr. and Mary Sue Page and his sister, Sue Welch. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years of marriage: Elizabeth "Beth" Page, daughter, Mary Beth Page and her husband Jim Brentnell of Greensboro, NC; son, William "Billy" C. Page, III and his wife Betty of Asheboro, NC; one brother: Wade S. "Tuck" Page of Asheboro, NC, four grandchildren: Jonathan Brentnell, Laura Brentnell, Jeremy Page and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Page and four great grandchildren: Austin Page, Avery Page, Abigail Page and Ashleigh Page; niece: Sally Gabosch; and nephew: Charles Welch.
