William Edwin "Bill" Key, age 79, of 555 Morton Ave, Asheboro died Friday, December 4, 2009.Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Ottinger and Rev. Vernon McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.Mr. Key was a native of Richmond County, NC and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Mt. Gilead High School and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. A member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Bill was formerly employed as Vice-President Personnel Director at B.B. Walker Shoe Company. He retired from Pugh Funeral Home after 30+ years of service. While there he was a strong influence and teacher to all members of the funeral home staff, and mentor to those special few. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, LaFon Key and Frank Key, and his sister, Hilda Fagge. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Scott Trogdon Key; daughter, Kathryn K. Fagg and her husband Phillip of North Wilkesboro, NC; step daughter, Terri Trogdon Fussell and her husband Berry of Willard, NC; step sons, Kent Trogdon and his wife Laura Said of Williamsburg, KY, Eric Trogdon and his wife Janet of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; 3 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 6-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
