William "Bill" Harrison Kearns, age 86, of 406 Wood St, Troy, died Saturday, June 28, 2008 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Mr. Kearns was born July 13, 1921 at Ramseur, NC, the son of the late Robert Ivey Kearns, Sr. and the late Enola (Wooley) Kearns. Even though Mr. Kearns was a native of Randolph County, he lived most of his life in the Troy area. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a retired employee of Capel Rug Mill. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and a receipient of the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife Madge Vanhoy Kearns of the home; one son: Bill Kearns of Troy; two sisters: Ruth Leach of Troy, Nancy Brown and husband, Jack of Troy; one brother: Don Kearns and wife, Carolyn of High Point; two grandsons, Philip Kearns and wife, Allison, Billy Kearns and wife, Melinda; 3 great-grandchildren, Sarah Kearns, Mason Kearns and Parker Kearns.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell Street, Troy with Rev. Bobby Tyson, Jr. and Rev. Vernon B. McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Troy with full military honors.
