William C. “Bill” Haney, age 93, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Cross Road Retirement Community.
Mr. Haney was born in Johnson City, TN on January 16, 1925 to Mark Edgar and Anna South Haney. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Bill retired from Gibbs Machine Company in 1992. He was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Slagle Haney. Bill was an avid musician and loved to play the steel guitar. He loved playing his country music, competing in many competitions. Bill was a fine Christian man that loved his Lord.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Haney of Asheboro; sons, David Haney and wife Sherry of Asheboro and Michael Haney of Boston, MA; grandson, Tyler Haney of Asheboro; and granddaughter, Emily Haney of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 10:00-10:45 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
The family would like to express a warm “thank you” to the staff at Cross Road Retirement Center and Hospice of Randolph County for their care and concern for Bill.
