William Howard Dixon

RANDLEMAN - William Howard Dixon, age 80, of Randleman died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mr. Dixon was born August 26, 1933 the son of John Cohen and Bertha Ida Cain Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a native of Randolph County. Howard was a graduate of Randleman High School, RTC and United Christian Ministry. In 1996, he received the Governor's Volunteer Award. Howard was a man of great faith. He had been involved with Randleman Church of God, Landmark Baptist church and had officiated at many weddings. He was involved in prison ministry for many years. In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dixon; brother, James Hal Dixon; step-daughter Esther Ruth Carter. He is survived by: son and his wife, William Howard Dixon, Jr. and Rose of Williamsburg, VA; Son and his wife, Anthony and Renee Dixon of Morganton, NC; son: Tommy Dixon of Lexington, NC 3 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; sister: Swannie Richardson of Randleman, NC; brother: Sammy Dixon of Franklinville, NC; sister and her husband, Ann and Steve Brewer of Archdale, NC; sister and her husband, Libby and Keith Underwood of Asheboro, NC; brother and his wife, Dean and Helen Dixon of Randleman, NC; special friends: Jeffrey and Sherry Cockman of Randleman, NC; special friend: Linda Clay of Franklinville, NC; and canine friends, Jewel And Astro. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Landmark Baptist Church, 2816 Spoons Chapel Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Entombment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
