William D. Bowman, Jr., age 91, of Randleman passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Clapp's Nursing Center, Pleasant Garden.
Mr. Bowman was born in Franklinville on December 24, 1924 the son of William D. and Stella Chandler Bowman.
William served in the US Army Eighth Air Force during WWII. He also served on the Randolph County Sheriff's Department. He also served as Sheriff for one year. He was a former county commissioner and commander at the VFW Post 9418. William retired from Ramtex in Ramseur and was a member of Worthville United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his wife Frances Williamson Bowman, sisters Lora Bowman, Elizabeth Bowman, and Becky Bowman; brothers James, Robert and "Bunnie" Bowman.
He is survived by his son, Wayne Bowman and his wife Donna of Pleasant Garden; brother, Lacy Bowman; sisters, Marie Lowe and Patsy Dabbs; grandchildren: Ronda Stevens, Tracy Turner and Tricia Boyet; 4 great grandchildren: Ricky Benson, Jesse Bowman, Dylan Turner and Logan Boyet; 1 great great grandchild: Aliyah Bowman.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 1:15-1:45 PM at Worthville United Methodist Church, 1212 Worthville Road, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Church, with Rev. Abraham Kim officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
