Wayne Lindsey Hammer

Wayne Lindsey Hammer, age 81, of Asheboro passed away on June 10, 2024 at the Randolph Hospice House.

Mr. Hammer was born in Mecklenburg County on August 25, 1942 to Theodore and Connie McNeill Hammer.  Wayne served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from Klaussner Furniture after 30 years of service.  In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Jean Hammer and Doris Efird, and his brothers, Ernest “Buddy” Hammer and David Hammer.  Wayne loved to hunt deer and turkey, fish, and play golf.  He loved to work in his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Rush Hammer; daughter, Sherry McAllister (Burnie); son, Jay Hammer (Allison); grandchildren, Ivey Snider (John), Mackenzie Hammer (Preston Henderson), and Riley Hammer; great grandchildren, Katlyn McAllister and Kason Snider; and his beloved dog, Max.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 am at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.  Funeral services will follow on Friday at 11:00 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Thompson officiating.  Interment will be held in the Richland Baptist Church Cemetery.
