Wanda Lee Stephenson, age 57, passed away on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, North Carolina. Wanda Lee was born September 25, 1959 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Dorothy and the late Raeford Stephenson of Angier, North Carolina. Wanda Lee was a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina and lived in Asheville, North Carolina for many years. She was a creative writer and talented storyteller. She performed Southern Sweet Talk and Tarheel Tales for live audiences in the mountains of western North and South Carolina. She is survived by her daughter, Olivia Rose Huebner of Olympia, Washington; son, Dashiell Huebner of New Orleans, Louisiana; and her mother, Dorothy W. Stephenson of Angier, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister Teresa (Tom) Burckhalter of Lady's Island, South Carolina and brother Timothy (Rita) Stephenson of Courtland, Virginia. A private service will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina with burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank her companion Ray Hill for his steadfast devotion as well as the health care providers of Randolph County for their kind and compassionate care of Wanda Lee.
