Walton Parsons

Walton Parsons, age 85, of 2033 Thickety Creek Rd., Mt. Gilead died Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.Mr. Parsons was born October 30, 1924 in Montgomery County, NC, the son of Clayton C. and Margaret (Sedberry) Parsons. He was a member of Parsons Grove United Methodist Church and retired from Troy Furniture with 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife: Betty Thompson Parsons of the home; one daughter: Janice P. Morris of Troy; one son: Kevin Parsons of Troy; one stepson: Steve Thompson of Mt. Gilead; two stepdaughters: Cynthia Thompson and Vickie McDowell, both of Mt. Gilead; one brother: Tilton Parsons of Troy; three sisters: Elaine Haywood of Troy, Blanche Lamonds and Sarah Harris, both of Candor; 5 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild.The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church, Pekin Rd., Candor with Rev. William Mitchell and Rev. Henry Jenkins officiating.
