Vivian Allred Nelson, age 95, of Sophia, formerly of Salisbury, died Saturday, December 26, 2009.
Mrs. Nelson was a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Randleman High School. She retired from Murrows Transfer Company in High Point. Vivian was a member of The Salvation Army in Salisbury, where she started teaching Sunday School in 1982. During her service to the Salvation Army she was also assistant Home League Secretary, League of Mercy Secretary from 1984 - 2003. She prepared meals for The Salvation Army Advisory Board for 13 years. Mrs. Nelson was a volunteer for the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury for 21 years, where she received an award for her 7,921 hours of service working with crafts. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Troy F. Robbins and William Nelson.
She is survived by sister: Nellie A. Noel of Sophia, NC; nieces, Marion Allred Crouse and her husband, Richard; Cecilia Allred Best and her husband, Jennings; Great niece, Ashleigh Crouse and great nephew, David Crouse.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 30,2009 from 1:00 - 1:45 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will be at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, High Point.
